About

The Prince and The Hawker

The world is full of different food experiences. Every country and culture brings endless ingredients, preparations, and dishes to the table. This can come in any form, from the most humble street-side hawker dish in Singapore to the most refined Michelin-starred restaurant tasting menu in London. There is enjoyment and learning to be found no matter where you’re eating. Price and value are not always correlated, and context is important. “The Prince and The Hawker” is a blog that hopes to bring appreciation for food experiences from the full spectrum. We also hope to bring a little learning so we can appreciate customs and cultures from around the world.

Calvin

Hi! I’m Calvin. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada with a parental heritage from Hong Kong, I’ve always had a love for different foods and cultures. Growing up in a multicultural setting has fuelled my thirst to learn and discover. This thirst has only been amplified by my time living in Canada, the USA, Hong Kong, Spain, Poland, and the UK. I currently reside in London, UK. Professionally, I’ve gone from studying civil engineering, to working as a mining engineer, to pursuing an MBA, to working as a warehouse senior operations manager, and most recently to running a project management office. But one thing has stayed constant in my life – my passion for food.
